Getting started4 questions
You upload a PDF plan set. Roughin puts every page on your phone with a real thumbnail so you can open, pinch and zoom any sheet. On Solo and Pro it also files every sheet by trade, answers questions about the set and tells you which sheet the answer is on, measures off the drawing, and lets you mark up and share sheets. The construction calculator and notes work on every plan, including Free.
Android phones first, through Google Play. iOS is coming after. Roughin is built for a phone held in one hand on site; there is no desktop or web version of the app.
For most of it, yes. Uploading, Auto Sort, Ask AI, scale detection and saving notes or markups all need a connection. Two things don’t: the calculator runs entirely on the phone, and any sheet you have already opened is cached on the phone, so you can still pull it up when the signal drops.
There is a free plan with no card required: 1 project, 3 blueprint uploads total, up to 30 pages per blueprint, every page to view and zoom, the calculator and notes. Auto Sort, Ask AI, measuring, markups and custom sets need Solo ($14.99 CAD/mo) or Pro ($29.99 CAD/mo). Both paid plans start with a 7-day free trial.
Uploading blueprints4 questions
PDF only. That is what every drawing set gets issued as. If you have images or a DWG, export them to PDF first.
50 MB per PDF. Page limits depend on the plan: Free allows up to 30 pages per blueprint; Solo covers 60 pages a month and Pro 120 pages a month across everything you upload.
Pages show up as soon as the upload finishes. Auto Sort on Solo and Pro usually takes a minute or two for a typical set; a big set with dense schedule pages can take longer. You can leave the screen and come back.
Tap Try again on the processing screen; most failures are a dropped connection. If it keeps failing, the PDF is probably very large or scanned at low quality. Email us with the project name and we will look at the log for that upload.
Using the AI4 questions
When a set is sorted, Roughin reads every page and pulls out the sheet titles, room labels, dimensions, notes and schedule entries, plus anything on your legend and abbreviation pages. Ask AI answers from that record of your own set, not from a generic construction manual, and every answer names the sheet it came from.
Treat it like a fast colleague who read the set, not the stamped drawings. It is right most of the time and it always shows you where it looked, so tap the citation and check the sheet before you cut, pour or pull wire. Field-verify anything that matters.
Every answer has a small flag icon. Tap it, pick a reason, and the report lands with us along with the question and the answer. We read every one and use them to tune how Roughin reads sets.
Yes. To sort a set and answer questions, pages are sent to the AI provider (Anthropic) under commercial API terms that do not allow your data to be used to train their models. Roughin does not train anything on your plans either. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Billing5 questions
Solo is for one person on up to 3 active projects: 60 pages a month, 30 Ask AI questions a month, 5 scale detections, plus Auto Sort, measuring, markups and custom sets. Pro is unlimited projects, 120 pages and 60 questions a month, 10 scale detections, and sheet stacks (swipe between up to 6 sheets).
In the app: Profile → Manage subscription, or tap any locked feature and choose a plan. Billing runs through Google Play (and the App Store on iOS), so it uses whatever payment method you already have there.
Through the store, not through us: Google Play → Subscriptions (or Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone). Cancel before the trial ends and you are never charged. Cancel later and you keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for.
Google and Apple handle refunds for app subscriptions. Email us and we will point you at the right request form and help if it gets stuck.
Yes. Both Solo and Pro come with a 7-day free trial. A card is required through the store, and nothing is charged if you cancel before day 7.
Privacy & security3 questions
Your account, projects, sheets, notes and markups live in our hosted database and file storage (Supabase). PDFs are stored in a private bucket that only your account can read. Copies of sheets you have opened are also cached on your own phone.
You. Access is locked to your account at the database level, and we do not browse customer plans. The only other party that processes them is the AI provider, during sorting and when you ask a question.
In the app: Profile → Danger Zone → Delete account. That removes your account, projects, PDFs, notes, markups and chat history right away. If you can’t get into the app, use the Delete Account page on this site.
