Roughin/About
About us

Built by people who've worked construction

Roughin exists because we got tired of flipping through a 50-page PDF on a job site looking for one detail.

The problem

Plans are made for desks, not mud

A drawing set is meant to be spread out on a table. On site there is no table. There is a phone, one free hand, and a sheet you know is in there somewhere.

So tradespeople lose real hours every week pinching and zooming through a 100-page set, hunting for the one page that matters.

The realization

Every other construction app is built for the office

Procore is for project managers. Bluebeam is for the people drawing the set. None of them are built for the trade actually building it — the electrician on the ladder, the framer in the rain.

The bet

Phone-first, one thumb, readable in the sun

So we built the opposite. Big targets, warm paper instead of a black screen, and an AI that reads the set so you can ask it a question instead of flipping to find the answer. It names the sheet. You check the sheet.

Where we are

In beta, on real jobs

Roughin is in private beta with tradespeople in Alberta, with a Google Play launch next and iOS after. Most of what changes week to week comes straight from what they tell us is broken.
